Trivial to identify, if you know what you’re looking for. I didn’t, and apparently my local mechanic doesn’t either.
Track bar was the culprit. Fortunately I had replaced it 4 years ago with an aftermarket adjustable track bar that uses tie rod ends, so they just replaced the bad end vs the entire track bar.
Unfortunately it turns out that Hertz doesn’t care that I returned my rental after 1 day instead of 1 week, so I paid $200 to rent a Corolla for a day. Nice car, but a little steep.

Yeah, it’s not always easy to identify and remedy. I’ve seen plenty of folks on forums claim to have replaced every joint in the front end and still can’t get rid of it.

I should have been more explicit: this one was easy to identify.
I rented a car for a week specifically because I knew it wasn’t always straightforward. Oops.

Glad to hear it was a simple fix. Regarding car rentals, try to go with best available for the money. Pricing is usually just a few dollars difference per class size (ie: Compact vs. Intermediate ), Haggle for something better than a CVT soul sucker, and if possible, rent from the airport. They always have the best selection and flexiblity.

The rental car was fine and a reasonable price...it’s just not reasonable to pay for a week when it turns out I only needed it a day.
At least, they should have told me that when I turned it in; I might have held onto it for a few more days, since I was paying for it anyway.

It’s in the T&C that you signed. And especially once you drive off the lot. I would have just kept it until it was time to turn it in.

My anxiety just kick in because I’m worried that I may have come across as condensing.
My heart felt apologies.

Thank you. I really should have worded my post better. I meant to commiserate with your situation instead of compounding it.
Unfortunately today has been a downward spiral since I woke up (more business than personal) , so I’ve been distracted...and coming to the Kinjaverse to reset my mind!

Look at your credit cards and/or business card (if you have one) for any car rental benefits. All of my rentals are handled under a corporate account, so although the rental rate is set for monthly, I can dump the car after a few days and they’ll just adjust the rate accordingly.

Glad you were able to get it resolved easily/quickly. My wife thinks a Jeep would make for a good third vehicle. It’s interesting that during the current phase of very colorful Jeeps, the era of TJs is mostly bland. It’s hard to find a non white/ gray/black for sale, especially if looking at LJs.

Inca Gold, Solar Yellow, Chili Pepper...there were definitely some memorable colors, but not as many in 2004-06, and I guess it’s unavoidable that brighter colors are harder to find.
I was quite fortunate that when I found my dream LJ, it was the right color. What were the odds of finding a stick LJ in the perfect color 20 minutes from home?
